The Brussels Council of the Living Environment (BRAL) is one of the major partners involved in the Brussels Living Lab experiment (WP4).
BRAL is an environmentally-oriented NGO striving to make Brussels sustainable. Along with its members and partners BRAL wants to build an environmentally friendly, affordable and solidary city. BRAL organizes actions, lobbies, supports citizens' initiatives and provides advice to the authorities. We have a large experience in multi-actor projects, mediating processes between public authorities and citizens, mobilizing and supporting grassroots initiatives but also in more research related projects on urban participation and development.
BRAL exists since 1974 as a Brussels member organization which unites neighborhood committees, Brussels activists and academics, and other organizations. It has a large network in the Brussels Capital Region that includes other NGOs, local organizations, individuals, academics, and public authorities.
Our main domains are: environment, mobility, urban planning and participation. From 2014 till 2018 the focus will be on better air quality, an economy that is both green and social, and an urban development with room for participation.
